We follow a 12-step routine that was originally designed for upholstery, and below it is grouped into three stages. With delicate fabrics such as velvet, that routine is applied with particular care, because the wrong product or too much moisture can spoil the finish.
Before anything else, Reece examines each piece and settles on the right technique and cleaning agents for its fabric and soiling. He is upfront about the result you can realistically expect. Dry soil is vacuumed off, anything that can be shifted safely is moved, and a pre-spray is applied. Individual stains are pre-spotted, then the fibres are groomed. For carpets and suitable fabrics, we clean by hot water extraction, also described as steam cleaning, with the Airflex Storm 800psi. Grime caught in the weave is loosened by a turning brush, then two strong vacuum motors pull it out at once. Compared with other machines it uses less water, so nothing is left soaking, and padded seats and deep carpet pile dry more quickly. For velvet and other delicate fabrics, the method and products are adjusted to suit, as agreed at the assessment stage.
Our rinse puts the fabric back at its original pH and carries away all detergent, so nothing sticky remains to catch dirt. Neutralising and a final round of spot work come next, then the nap or pile is groomed and speed-dried. We finish by checking everything over together. On leaving, carpets will be about four-fifths (80%) dry, and completely dry within a further 2 to 4 hours or so.
